Do You Need a Large Dog Kennel?
When choosing the right dog cage, size is extremely important. Depending on the breed, you will need to decide if a small or medium kennel will work, or if you must go for a large dog kennel. Some people may be turned off by the higher cost of a bigger pet cage. However, it is vital that your pet can remain comfortable when confined.
Health Risks
When you choose a dog cage that is too small, your pet could suffer from health problems caused by not being able to stretch. The longer he is confined, the worse the problem will get. Make sure he can stand up and move around comfortably. He should be able to stretch his legs without being pushed against the side of the dog crate. If you own a medium to large size breed, you will most likely need a large dog kennel. How Does Size Affect My Dog's Ability to Accept the Crate?
If you decide against the large dog kennel, and go for a smaller size that is not compatible with your pet, you may find he does not adapt well to the new cage. Look at it from his point of view, you are telling him to get inside a small space that makes his muscles ache and does not allow him to rest comfortably. If he needs a large dog kennel, make sure you get him nothing smaller!
A large dog kennel is a great way to keep your pet safe and out of the way when you cannot watch him. Eventually, he will come to love his little home and may even go inside to sleep even when you have not told him to. Guarantee successful crate training by choosing the right size crate!
