Looking After Your Guinea Pig

Looking After Your Guinea Pig

Guinea Pig Housing

We would love you to buy one of our hutches for your Guinea Pigs, we have some great cages for them to call home , our standard hutches are a good starting point or any of our Rabbits Hutches would be fine ,in October 2008 we made some new products the first one was the The Voyager Apex Guinea Pig Run this is a lovely apex house with a run just right for Guinea Pigs , the next two was The Guinea Pig Snug And Run and the  The Bilton Guinea Pig Den And Run both have a house and a run and both great for piggies. But if you want to spoil your little friends we make two hutches that have stood the riggers of time the first one is Flat Roof Guinea Pig Hutch with Run Under this is a great hutch and run if you have limited space it gives the piggies more room and a ramp to run up and down giving them great exercise, but the creme De la creme in our opinion is our Sykes Guinea Pig Hutch & Run Combo this is like the run under but has a larger run that protrudes in front of the hutch this gives them more space to run around in , one of the things we have had from people over the years are e mails about this combo saying the best thing about it is that there Son or Daughter could sit in the run and be with the piggies, i love this idea its better than them sat in front of a computer for hours on end.

Please Note All Hutches , Runs & Combos are made by the happyhutch company in our own factory in Hull East Yorkshire HU3 2BT , you are welcome to come and have a look at the quality of our product in our large showroom , please phone 01482214744 for opening times.

FEEDING

Guinea pigs are reasonably easy to feed, just remember the two main things.  1 they can't make their own vitamin C. and 2 - they need fresh food like in the wild, by grinding down roughage in order to get sufficient nourishment. This will help to keep the front teeth short, preventing problems with over growing.

Guinea pigs should always have a daily supply of grass or hay, and fresh water . They also need to have guinea pig dry mix,or guinea pig pellets.do not feed them rabbit dry mix this is a different mix to guinea pig mix. If they don't eat something in the mix, don't leave it out of their next feed ,just like us they have different moods on different days.what they leave today they may want tomorrow,

One thing they need and you must feed them with is plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables in order to supply their need for vitamin C. They will generally eat the same things that we do but don't over feed one particular food type.guinea pigs have their own favourite food and can range from apples, carrots, celery even melons (including the skin of all), they also like things like cabbage and cauliflower stalks. Please look on the many good Guinea pig web sites to find out the food that is good and bad for your Guinea Pig ,

Remember the one thing Guinea Pigs like is lots of love and attention if you cannot give this DONT GET THEM .
